Her practice explores time-based performance drawing, an hybrid art form which embraces the combination of video technology and traditional drawing methods. Her work explores visual perception as it relates to the understanding of self and identity. Zhen has recently shown in Federation Square creating a live performance drawing on the big screen. She has been a finalist in the Dobell prize for drawing, shown in the Gallery of New South Wales.
In Zhen's workshop create a collaborative large scale charcoal stopmotion drawing. Participants will be able to experiment with the charcoal as a medium as well as see how a stopmotion video is created. As a collaborative artwork the animation will evolve and change depending on the group of participants.Read full summary
