| Company: | Regional Arts Victoria |
Emily is the Education and Families Manager at Regional Arts Victoria, working with professional artists to deliver high quality subsidised performance, workshop and residency opportunities to young people and educators across Victoria. Emily has worked in various roles as a Drama and English teacher, with her most recent classroom experience almost three years in Birmingham, UK, where she was a Teacher of English and ESL, as well as being in charge of resource creation for the English and Communications department at an inner city technical school. She continues a variety of freelance drama coaching outside of her role at RAV and also sits on the board of Drama Victoria, a peak body for drama educators. She has also assisted in the design and implementation of a number of welfare-based activities, including the Play Fighting Fair program in partnership with the University of Melbourne, a project about conflict resolution through drama targeted at young people from refugee backgrounds, and Yo-Zilla, an initiative of the Lighthouse Foundation which looked at building focus amongst homeless teenagers through the development of yo-yo skills. Emily is interested in empowering regional young people to create arts opportunities and viable industries in their communities.
